Use this guide as a great starting point for a lot of healthy snacks (and a few that are not so healthy). Of course, you don't need to be vegan to enjoy some of these tasty snacks. These snacks are also great if you are heading to a potluck, office party, or school event. By bringing a vegan snack, you'll share a healthy option and something that someone who may be dairy-free, gluten-free, or vegan (or vegetarian) can happily enjoy.
This is the first time I’ve ever been to your website and I can’t tell you how happy I am to have found you on Pinterest! I almost didn’t click the pin! Your recipes look fantastic, something I don’t often say about vegan recipes. I am pregnant and nursing right now and all of your snacks on here can be eaten and enjoyed! I can feel my protein intake rising.. :P
Snacks are truly a godsend—they can get you through a busy work week, a cram session in a dimly lit library basement, and even the kind of colossal breakup that leaves you ugly-crying in that same sad basement searching for something to eat your woes away. To our delight, a number of companies have been making accidentally vegan snacks for years, and we’ve compiled a list of a few of our favorite go-to treats you can find practically anywhere. Bookmark this list for the next time you’re on a road trip in the middle of nowhere, in need of something to munch on at the movies, or trying to get through a difficult moment and are in need of some sweet or salty fuel.
A dense loaf, but not in a bad way. Whole grain spelt flour tends to make dense breads, but I just love the nutty flavour of spelt so I don’t mind. The walnuts, streusel, and raisins add just the right amount of sweetness and crunch and the zucchini gives moisture without needing any oil. You also can’t taste the zucchini at all, but you can see the pretty green flecks!
November’s snack box was packed with an abundance of sweet treats. We are “Oat So Thankful” for you, so Novembers featured items packed real punch. First, you unwrapped an Endangered Species ESC One Puffed Rice Crunch + Dark Chocolate bar. Second, you snacked on gooey delicious JJ’s Sweets Coconut Sugar Caramels. And finally, you enjoyed UNREAL’s Dark Chocolate Crispy Peanut Gems. Hope you had a Happy Thanksgiving!
I am SO envious of you guys for your ability to just trot into a store and buy whatever vegan cheeses, faux meats etc. your hearts desire. We get hideous vegan cheese here, you can’t even call it cheese because it borders on melted plastic and quorn, which tends to be made using egg white base so bollocks to vegans. The only other alternatives are heinously tough hotdogs that never sell. I am seriously thinking of starting a sodding Aussie vegan food company right here! You want easy peasy seitan hotdogs that will knock anything else out of the ballpark? Just get your dry ingredients sorted, bosh in your wet, mix and roll in foil then steam. DONE. Mary’s test kitchen rules for creating these babies. We have them a lot. We thought that the flavour was a little low so we just doubled everything in the flavour recipe aside from the coconut oil and chilli and they are Steve’s go to favourite hotdogs now. Try these. You will love them. I guarantee! http://www.marystestkitchen.com/vegan-hot-dogs-2-paprika-seitan-sausages/
If you're sacrificing snacks to cut calories, stop—to lose weight, you need snacks. "Snacking is an opportunity to fuel your body between meals," says nutritionist Rania Batayneh, author of The One One One Diet. Healthy snacks ensure you won't be ravenous come mealtime and keep your fat-burning metabolism revved up. Here are 21 nutritionist-approved choices for both store-bought and make-your-own snacks. Each nosh packs 150 to 200 calories, is filled with good-for-you nutrients, and will make you feel like your diet is about anything but deprivation.
If you need your snack to have real staying power, go for a combo of good protein and a little bit of fat. A homemade egg salad is a great choice. Chop up one whole egg and one egg white, then mix with a tablespoon of reduced-fat mayonnaise. The high-quality protein in the eggs will fuel your body for hours, while the fat helps slow digestion, so you'll feel full and energized longer.
My all-time favourite cracker and quite possibly one of the top 3 recipes so far in 2012. Endurance Crackers are extremely light and crispy while providing long-lasting energy. They are also vegan, gluten-free, soy-free, nut-free, sugar-free, and oil-free to boot. Feel free to change up the seasonings and spices as you wish (see the comments in the original post for some ideas) and serve with protein-packed hummus for a snack that will fuel you for the long haul. Man, I wish I had some right now!
For a sweet fix, try mixing mandarin oranges canned in their own juice with a couple tablespoons of light whipped topping. The oranges give a great hit of vitamin C and other antioxidants, and the light whipped topping gives the snack an indulgent feel (a feeling you often miss when you're watching what you eat). "This is a good substitute for ice cream when you're dieting," adds McLachlan.
I would like to leave my mark on this floating rock that we call Earth by showing the world and humanity that being a vegan is not difficult, and that it’s just a simple change in mindset and lifestyle. It is in my greatest hopes that you find my content educational, inspirational, funny & witty, but most importantly a community where we come together where we live in peace and harmony.
