If you're looking for a creative way to add more fruit to your diet, try frozen banana pops. Slice several peeled bananas in half and insert popsicle sticks. Coat each half with an ounce of low-fat plain yogurt. Put the pops in the freezer, and soon you'll have ready-to-eat low-calorie treats. At just under 80 calories a pop, this is a snack you can feel good about.

"This duo is packed with protein and essential omega-3 fatty acids which helps to reduce inflammation and keep cholesterol in check," says registered dietitian, Rebecca Scritchfield, R.D., author ofBody Kindness. In addition to offering a slew of vitamins and minerals (potassium, calcium, folic acid, and more), its velvety, buttery richness feels like an indulgent treat, which helps you keep feeling full for longer.
Quesadillas without cheese may seem like a contradiction in terms, but they are indeed a thing in Mexico—and, more to the point, they can be delicious. Here, we mix mashed leftover sweet potato with cilantro, scallions, and pickled jalapeños (though you can sub whatever other quesadilla fillings strike your fancy); spread it over half of a flour tortilla; fold it; and cook it in plenty of oil, just as we recommend in our basic quesadilla guide.
Eating a snack between meals helps curb your hunger so that you don't inhale your dinner when you finally sit down to eat a meal. Snacking can also help you get in all the nutrients you need. On the flip side, grazing all day-particularly on foods with little nutritional value-may result in eating too much. It's a great idea to shop for snacks at the grocery store and pack them for work so you are prepared when hunger strikes. Many of these are also great on-the-go snack options.
This was supposed to be pizza pockets but vegan pepperoni was completely out of stock. I actually emailed the company asking when they predicted the shelves would be restocked. Dude, tofurky’s manufacturing situation is a little fucked right now (they wrote me back the details) but it’s growing pains. I’m happy things are coming together for them. Long story short pizza flavor wasn’t going to happen. This flavor combo was my last minute improv (thus using veggie dogs instead of “ham”) but I’m pretty sure this came out way better than the pizza combo would have. This was SOOOO good! And that melted cheese! Dude you see the videos?! Epic.

One is sweetened with maple syrup (or any liquid sweetener), and the other is sweetened with jam. I used a fruit juice sweetened jam in my fave flavor–blueberry. I am partial to the jammy version as it has better texture and extra fruit flavor, but I wanted to give you options. Plus some flavors (ahem…orange) aren’t easy to find in a jam. Both of the recipes can serve as templates for making any flavor you like. Just switch up the type of juice or jam and you can have snacks of just about any fruity sort.
My daughter loves the box and it’s a such a highlight when she sees it at our door! The products are so varied and interesting and she and I are both always looking for new vegan items on the market. I’m planning of giving box subscriptions to friends as a gift this coming year...I don’t feel the need to research and see what other boxes are like..we really enjoy yours!!
Kale chips pretty much keep my chip cravings at bay so the next time you’re craving something crispy and salty, try a batch of kale chips as a healthy alternative to store-bought potato chips. Sweet potato chips and beet chips are also a favourite of mine and make a great snack for movie nights. Try these kale chips or sweet potato chips. Beets work well for this too.

When hunger strikes, a hardboiled egg is a great grab-and-go snack. It’s high in protein, which will curb your appetite and keep you from reaching for something less-than-healthy. Plus it packs nutrients like vitamins D and B12, but only contains 77 calories. Simply prep a bunch of hard-boiled eggs at once, and store them in the fridge for a quick hunger fix.
Oh wow, I can’t decide which of these recipes looks the yummiest! I’ve already made quite a few of these, but I spotted a few that I hadn’t seen before and really need to try. Particularly the cranberry lemon coconut chia bars… holy crap those look tasty. Thanks for the round-up of awesome recipes to get your vegan on! Carnivores be damned, vegans have more fun :)
What it comes down to is eating when you’re hungry. Don’t let yourself get ravenous which can lead to unhealthy choices and overeating. If you know you are going to be out and about all day, toss an apple, banana and a bag of mixed nuts and dried fruits in your bag. That way you’ll always have something healthy to reach for when hunger hits. If you’re completely new to plant-based eating, head over and read my post with tips for plant-based beginners.
